Travel to the Peruvian Highlands, the Valley of volcanoes. Arequipa city and its Colonial churches, located at the food of Misti and Chachani volcanoes, in the middle of the andean mountain range, with its unique National Reserve of Vicuñas. Besides to the west the deepest Canyon in the world and its surroundings as the local villages where time stopped centuries ago, ferming terraces and hotsprings. Destinations known for their unique natural beauty, history, and cultural traditions. Learn and share about our livestock (alpacas, llamas, guanacos, vicuñas and the hybrids), weaving techniques from the Colca Valley, and much more.

The first day, arrival in Arequipa, then transfer to your hotel. Afternoon guided visit Arequipa, an attractive colonial city at the food of several volcanoes Misti and Chachani. Enjoy a private walking tour of the city of Arequipa, known as the white city for the white ashlar stone (pale volcanic stone) used in the construction of houses, churches, convents and walls, and date from colonial era surrounded by stunning natural landscapes. Visit the Convent of Santa Catalina a small city into the other city, that housed the local nuns (arequipeñas) for over 400 years, also the Museum Santuarios Andinos where it is the remains of the mummy named Juanita, a spectacular discovery of a girl sacrificed on the cold slopes of snow mountain Ampato. Finally visit the Plaza de Armas (main square) which it is the central point of the city, the cathedral was built in the seventeenth century in white ashlar stone and brick, inside we find a body brought from Belgium and an altar Italian model.

Trekking in Colca Canyon: The second day, departure with private car & guide for your 04days-03nights Colca Trekking program, from Arequipa to Cabanaconde village passing through the town of Yura, Pampa Arrieros, Aguada Blanca, Torja and its natural lagoons, Pampa Cañahuas national reserve of vicuñas, flora and fauna. Patahuasi Chinito restaurant; giant rocks in the form of castles, Chucura, Patapampa view point of volcanoes and Chivay village. Continue to Cabanaconde village, from here start to descend into the Colca canyon 1200m downhill, until Llahuar, on the way enjoy the amazing geysers. Overnight at Llahuar Village. The third day, trekking to Fure, on the way we will enjoy the beautiful landscapes of the Colca canyon, passing by Llatica village (2438m), arriving to Fure village (2752m), a very popular place by their cochinilla (local cactus) that people use for dyeing wool. In the preinca time the Colca canyon was housed by Collaguas, Cabanas and Ccaccatapay, who built many farming terraces, wáter irrigations. Afternoon walking to the Huaruro waterfall. Overnight in Fure Village.

The Fourth day, trekking to Sangalle oasis, passing on the way from the lookout Apacheta you will appreciate the view of Colca canyon, one of the deepest in the world. Sangalle (1900m) a natural paradise perfect for relaxing, an oasis located in the deepest part of the Colca canyon. In the afternoon free time to explore the área where grows fruits, relaxing in the swmming pool (20° degrees celcius) or fishing. Overnight in Sangalle. The Fifth day, early morning ascend 1200m (03hrs) until Cabanaconde village from where you will enjoy the wonderful view of Colca canyon, then we board our transport to visit the Cruz del Condor to observe the magnificent flight of the Condor and the deepest canyon in the world. On the way back to Chivay village enjoy the view of the Inca terraces along Colca Valley, and make stops at Achoma & Maca villages to meet local people where time stopped centuries ago. Return from Chivay to Arequipa. Additional activities can also be arranged, upon request, such as a meeting with a local art expert or an evening cultural performance.

On your final day, departure to airport, then connection to your next destination.

Day 02: Trekking in Colca canyon (B/L/D)

Buffet Breakfast included at hotel. Morning departure with private car & guide from Arequipa to Cabanaconde village, passing through the town of Yura, Pampa Arrieros, Aguada Blanca, Torja and its lagoons, Patahuasi restaurant, Chucura, Patapampa view point of volcanoes and Chivay village. Arrival in Cabanaconde village, lunch included at local restaurant. Start point of our trekking from Cabanaconde to Llahuar (3-4hrs). Dinner included. Overnight in Llahuar.

Day 03: Trekking in Colca canyon (B/L/D)

Breakfast included at Lodge. Morning (4hrs) trekking along the Colca canyon passing Llatica village, arriving to Fure, place housed by Collaguas, Cabanas and Ccaccatapay in pre-incan time, the residents of this área built many farming terraces, wáter irrigations and bridges. Lunch and dinner included. Afternoon (45minutes) walking to waterfalls of Huaruro.

Day 04: Trekking in Colca canyon (B/L/D)

Breakfast included at Lodge. Morning (4-5hrs) trekking along the Colca canyon passing Apacheta (look out) on the way to Sangalle. Afternoon free time to explore the área where grows fruits like lúcuma, pacay and chirimoya and relaxing in the swmming pool (20° degrees celcius) or fishing in the Colca River. Lunch and dinner at Sangalle. Overnight in Sangalle.

Day 05: Trekking in Colca canyon (B/L/-)

Breakfast included at Lodge. Early morning (03hrs) hikking from Sangalle to Cabanaconde. Breakfast included at Cabanaconde village, then private transport to visit the Cruz del Condor with stops at Achoma and Maca villages en route to Chivay village. Lunch included at local restaurant in Chivay. At proper time departure with private car & guide from Chivay to Arequipa. Arrival in Arequipa and transfer to hotel.

DESCRIPTION OF ITINERARY:

DAY 01: ARRIVAL TRANSFER / AREQUIPA HOTELS: Upon arrival to airport/bus station of Arequipa. Reception by a representative of our staff, who will give you the necessary assistance and then drive you to the hotel, who will accompany and assist you with your luggage and registration procedures. In the afternoon half day sightseeing tour of the city of Arequipa, known as the white city because most of its houses and buildings are built in white ashlars stone and date from the colonial era surrounded by stunning natural landscapes. Visit the main square admired not only for its beauty but also because it is the central point of the city, the cathedral built in the seventeenth century in white ashlar and brick, inside we find a body brought from Belgium and an altar Italian model. The monastery of Santa Catalina, a miniature city that housed the local nuns (arequipeñas) for over 400 years, open to the public in 1970, with an innumerable amount of colonial artwork. The Museum Andean Sanctuaries where it is the remains of the mummy named Juanita, a spectacular discovery of a girl sacrificed as an offering, part of the Inca nobility that was discovered on the cold slopes of snow mountain Ampato. Return to the hotel. Overnight in Arequipa.

DAY 02: AREQUIPA / CHIVAY / CABANACONDE / LLAHUAR: Breakfast at the hotel. A guide and driver will pick you up from the hotel to drive you to visit Colca Canyon which is located 165 km away from Arequipa and 40 km from Chivay town. We have a brief stop at pampas Cañahuas place where is located the National Reserve of Vicuña (wild camels with the finest wool in the world), the giant rocks castles, the flora and fauna and CHINITO restaurant to take some hot drinks or go to the bathroom. Then we are going to ascend by car until Patapampa (4910m) the lookout of volcanoes. According to the Andean custom, formerly travelers crossed mountains and left in their way on the highest part of the road (apachetas) small stones making a wish and leaving all the fatigue in these stones, for this reason that there are on this place (Patapampa) many piles of rocks left by the travelers. Then we descend to Chivay, a small village on the river of the Colca Valley, then we continue direct to Cabanaconde (3287m) where we have lunch. We start to descend into the Colca canyon 1200m downhill (3-4 hrs), on the way we pass 02 bridges and see truly amazing geysers of steaming natural hotwater. Then we continue walking 45 minutes to get to Llahuar where there are nice hotsprings, and it is a good place to enjoy and relaxing, here we will spend the night in nice cabins. In the evening dinner. Overnight in Llahuar.

DAY 03: LLAHUAR / LLATICA / FURE / HUARURO WATERFALLS / FURE: Brekfast at the Lodge. This day we start our trekking to Fure (2752m), on the way we will enjoy the beautiful landscapes of the Colca canyon 04 hours walking we get to Llatica village (2438m) where we stop to rest. Then we continue to Fure, a very popular place by their cochinilla (local cactus) that people use for dyeing alpaca wool, like orange, yellow and green (in the past the andean people used natural dyeing like plants, cactus). Lunch in Fure. In the preinca time the Colca canyon was housed by Collaguas, Cabanas and Ccaccatapay, the residents of this área built many farming terraces, wáter irrigations, bridges, likewise the livestock was one of the main activities. In the afternoon 45 minutes walking to the Huaruro waterfall, the cascades is 100m into the deep pool, which gives to the zone a nice view, also you can fish in Huaruro river. Dinner at the Lodge. Overnight in Fure.

DAY 04: FURE / OASIS / SANGALLE: Breakfast at the Lodge. Perhaps this day will be relaxing because the trekking is 4-5 hours to get to Sangalle (natural Paradise), passing on the way the lookout Apacheta from where you will appreciate the Colca canyon and its rivers. The Colca Canyon, one of the deepest in the world, which was studied and measured in 2005 by the Polish Andrew Pietowski over 4160m (north side) and 3600m (south side), located in the district of Huambo. The origin of the Colca Canyon is tectonic and formed 150 million years ago. After 3 1/2 hrs hiking we get to Sangalle (1900m), which looks like an oasis, beacuse it is located in the deepest part of the Colca canyon. Lunch at the Lodge. In the afternoon free time to explore the área where grows fruits like lúcuma, pacay and chirimoya, relaxing in the swmming pool (20° degrees celcius) or fishing. Dinner at the lodge. Overnight in Sangalle.

Choise 02: Fure / Oasis / Malata / Coshñirhua / San Juan de Chuccho (6-7 hrs)

DAY 05: SANGALLE / CABANACONDE / CRUZ DEL CONDOR/ CHIVAY / AREQUIPA: Early we start to ascend 1200m (03 hrs) together with the sunrise returning to Cabanaconde from where you will enjoy the wonderful view of Colca canyon, then Breakfast. We board our transport to get the Cruz del condor to appreciate the majestic flight of the condor, the condor world’s largest bird can fly up to 7000 m of height and live up to 85 years approximately. In Inca times the condor was considered a very special divinity because linked the hanan pacha (world obove) with kay pacha (world we live in). There is a clear hierarchy at lunch time, because the adult males will eat first, then adult females and finally young condors, usually the condor are a scavenger (feeding on large mammals). Usually you can see the condor in the morning, at which time they go out of their caves to hunt mammals. Then you will be driven to the village of Chivay, making stops on route to observe the Inca terraces along Colca canyon, likewise some villages as Pinchollo, Maca, Achoma or Yanque. Visit the hot springs La Calera (optional). Lunch in the village of Chivay. Then a return trip (2:30 hour drive) to Arequipa or (6:00 hour drive to Puno), transfer to hotel.

DAY 06: AREQUIPA HOTELS / TRANSFER OUT: Breakfast at the hotel. A guide and driver will pick you up from the hotel and then you will be driven to the airport/bus station in order to board your transportation to your next destination that will assist you with boarding and luggage.
